Michael Sullivan Lecture Keynote
Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Textbook Publishing: Opportunities and Challenges

Friday, June 6, 9-10 a.m. ET

In this Michael Sullivan Lecture Keynote, textbook author and AI scientist Gerald Friedland will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming academic publishing and content creation. As an AI scientist with over 20 years of experience and a native German speaker, he will share his unique experience of having his graduate textbook, Information-Driven Machine Learning, translated from English to German by an AI tool. He will also discuss insights from a late addendum contract by Cambridge University Press for his 2014 book, Multimedia Computing (co-authored with Ramesh C. Jain). These developments underscore a dynamic shift in intellectual property rights and raise compelling questions about the future of publishing. View the full description in the Agenda, below.
